Pure Cafe has been open since 2003 and has built up a very good reputation and become a popular destination for Tokyoites after a smoke free cafe with quality food and drinks and a trendy, yet relaxing environment to meet friends, read a book or just grab something quick to eat.

The main focus in Pure Cafe is on vegan food with a strong emphasis on organic and a variety of menu options to choose from.

Don’t be turned off by the word “vegan”. While there are more than your fair share of salads to choose from (and they’re good), there’s also some fantastic fresh sandwiches, and deli options that come with some delicious soup or dip depending on your set options. Meal sets can range from 680 – 2100 yen depending on what you feel like and there are slight menu variations depending on what time of day you come. For example in the Morning Menu between 8:30 – 11:30am you can get a toast or muffin set for 680 yen while on the Dinner Menu (6 – 10:30pm) you can enjoy a variety of evening plates which range from 1500 – 2100 yen depending on the day’s special.

Most of the staff are completely bilingual (English/Japanese) as are the menus which makes this a very comfortable place to go if your Japanese isn’t as good as you would like. There’s also a small shop near the entrance that sells imported health food and teas from outside Japan that’s also worth a look.

I had a fantastic time at Pure Cafe and can definitely see myself coming back again. Highly recommended.

Directions: Pure Cafe can be a little difficult to find if you’re coming from elsewhere in Omotesando or Harajuku due to it being located within a few backstreets so it’s best to navigate from the B3 Exit of Omotesando Station for the easiest route.
Once you’re at Exit B3, walk down the small street so that the main road (Aoyama Dori) is behind you. Once you get to the end of the street you should see a building in front of you with an Aveda store on the Ground Floor. Pure Cafe is actually within this store despite the lack of advertising on the exterior of the building. Once you’re on the street level, it should take you about one to two minutes walk to get here.
