Great Seating, Trendy Tokyo Shopping, and BIG Cups of Coffee

E.A.Gran Espresso Cafe in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan

E.A. Gran Espresso Cafe has to be one of my favourite cafes in Tokyo and I find myself coming here quite a bit whether it’s to study, read, catch up with a friend or just chill out while I wait for a movie to start in the nearby Toho Cinema (which I highly recommend if you want to catch a film while in Tokyo).

The atmosphere is very welcoming with around 60 seats creating a variety of different seating options from big soft single lounges to chairs at a counter, everyone should be happy with the options available. The chairs are very comfortable and the atmosphere fairly quiet though it can get busy around midday due to the lunch time rush so best to arrive before or after this peak period.

The free Wi-Fi internet is super fast and easy to connect to. There are also several power points around the cafe for those that need to charge their device. If you don’t have an iPod Touch or Kindle there’s a huge selection of English language art and travel books that are free to read.

Where E.A. Gran Espresso Cafe really impresses though is in the food and drinks. There’s a massive variety of food on the menu ranging from hot sandwiches, salads and pasta to a nice selection of cakes and desserts. The serving sizes are fairly big. Definitely much larger than the typical Japanese serving size.

The drink menu has something for everyone with a good choice of coffee and tea available. The coffee sizes are absolutely massive. A small coffee is easily as big as your average mug offering excellent value. Some organic coffee is also available and unlike other cafes you can combine any of the drinks with a cake or sandwich for a set discount.

  1. This place is called E.A. Gran now. I’m not sure if there is a different operator or if anything has changed with the service as I only visited for the first time recently. However, they still have excellent coffee, free wi-fi and power outlets. I’m not sure of the smoke-free status as it was empty on a weekday morning when I visited.
